Plaza Guest Magazine, new stories from our guests

Our feature Plaza Guest Magazine collects a new story from Trina Haeffel, from Milwaukee, who tells us about her experience at Hotel Plaza Sorrento.

Hi Trina, please tell us about your experience at Plaza. How did you know about our hotel?

After searching for and reviewing hundreds of hotels in books and online, Hotel Plaza stood out as the right choice for us. We visited Sorrento in August for 7 nights during our wedding anniversary, and the hotel exceeded our expectations. The room was beautiful and well cared for with more than adequate amenities. We chose a room with a balcony that afforded gorgeous views of Mount Vesuvius, the bay of Naples, and Sorrento. On the roof, where we enjoyed the pool and bar, the view is even better. We enjoyed music and drinks at the ground floor bar in the evening and a delightful breakfast each morning. The staff was very polite, professional and accommodating. We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend staying at Hotel Plaza.

How well do you know Sorrento? What do you remember most of our town? Did you visit other places around Sorrento?

We had previously visited Sorrento in 2013 in order to take a ferry to Capri. When we returned from Capri we enjoyed passeggiata, strolling the picturesque streets of Sorrento, and had a splendid dinner. Sorrento is so charming that after spending one evening we decided to return for a week in 2014. Still, we would like to know Sorrento better. Even after a week-long visit it feels like we merely scratched the surface of Sorrento. Some of the most endearing memories from Sorrento are the atmospheric streets with vendors providing everything from leather goods to limoncello, the steep picturesque cliffs above the beautiful bay of Naples, and the festive evenings spent dinning and enjoying live music. The location of Plaza was perfect for exploring Sorrento and very close to train and ferry services making it the prefect base to explore Campania. From Hotel Plaza we visited Paestum, the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Pompeii, Paestum, Napoli and more. It also felt good to return to Sorrento each evening to relax and unwind after sightseeing.

For those who have never been to Plaza Sorrento: three good reasons to visit it?

The best reason to visit Plaza Sorrento is its perfect location right in the heart of beautiful Sorrento and very close to the Circumvesuviana train station and the marina. The Hotel itself is well maintained and professionally managed with excellent service staff. The room is well maintained and pleasantly decorated but the rooftop pool bar and the ground floor bar with live music lure you out to enjoy the entirety of Hotel Plaza Sorrento.

Social network and photos: how important they are to tell a travel experience? Do you usually write a travel blog?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Photos and videos are essential in order to truly convey a travel experience. Social networks are a must in today's culture but they are limited in some respects. I tend to utilize official websites more than networks or blogs. I do not usually blog myself but I have used reviews from sites such as TripAdvisor to help make my travel decisions.

You will return to the Plaza because...

I cannot imagine a more perfect base to visit all of Campania. Great location, fair price, excellent service, comfort ... Hotel Plaza Sorrento
