Another Christmas in Sorrento, another season of events that this year will not be focused only in the weeks around Christmas, but will last until February 27.
Almost 100 days of events, which just started last Saturday, November 21, with the lighting of the now historical illuminations of Piazza Tasso, and in particular the famous Christmas tree.
On Sunday, November 29 there will be the Professional Days of Cinema, seven days of film screenings that will include a tribute to Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini 40 years after his death.
The end of the cinema events will coincide with the beginning, on Saturday, December 5, of the most typical Christmas events, with the inauguration of the exhibition "Masters on Display - the Neapolitan Nativity" by the Sorrento Foundation and the opening of the busy Christmas markets. The small town of Casarlano will instead set up the impressive nativity scene, which will drag the audience into a biblical, oriental atmosphere of great charm.
There will be also shows for children, with the puppet theater and the Baby Christmas.
On Tuesday, December 8, the opening, in the Churches of Addolorata, S.Paolo and della Pietà, of the exhibition "Native Art II edition".
And more on Tuesday, December 15, in the Church of the Addolorata, a concert with the revisitation of Christmas classics with the participation of soprano Valeria Ioviero, and a concert in tribute to the composer Niccolò Paganini on 17 December.
More music on Friday, December 18 with the traditional Christmas concert in Piazza Tasso, the first of a series of musical events that will be repeated in the following days.
A bygone atmosphere on the night of December 31 with the New Year’s Eve concert at the Teatro Tasso with the music of Strauss’ waltzes. Those who prefer a more modern music can go wild to the rhythm of Dj Set in Piazza Tasso, to be followed by the impressive display of fireworks at midnight.
In the weeks of January, at the Teatro Tasso there will be several meetings with Italian and international artists. The month of February will be dedicated to the events of Carnival, and so we arrive at the beginning of spring and the Easter holidays for a new, exciting series of events in Sorrento.
