Sorrento keeps promoting modern art, with the exhibition of Arnaldo Pomodoro Rive dei mari (Shores of the seas) which will be held atVilla Fiorentino from 22 May to 22 November 2015.
The city of Sorrento will host Arnaldo Pomodoro and his works, which retrace the steps of his long artistic career, starting in the 1950s. Rive dei mari is not only an anthology, but a reflection on the mysterious land of archetypes: the sea as the origin of humanity, taking with it dangers and hopes, myths and legends, storms and beauty.
The event, curated by Flaminio Gualdoni and Gino Fienga, and organized by Fondazione Sorrento in collaboration with the Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, includes the exhibition of 7 monumental works already installed in the streets of the City and about 100 works, including sculptures in bronze and fiberglass, graphics and art books, which will be hosted at the headquarters of the Foundation Sorrento, in Villa Fiorentino. Among the most important sculptures, La colonna del viaggiatore (1960), La sfera (1963), La lancia di luce (1985).
Fondazione Sorrento and the city of Sorrento keep believing in the importance of great art events, which so far included Mimmo Paladino, Antonio Biasucci, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Mario Sironi.
